As in any profession, there are bad, good and better attorneys and counselors. We have referrals for good, solid, parent-friendly lawyers and counselors in almost every state in this country. Give us a call and we can go over the details and figure out how to best point you in the right direction. We have found, over the past 11 years, that it helps to get a bit organized before interviewing these people - and we'll help you if need be.
It helps tremendously if you do a bit of research, first. If you are being kept from your children by the other parent, do some digging on 'parental alienation.' Dr. Michael Bone and Dr. Katherine Andre are two great places to start.
If you are having a negative experience with Child Protective Services, there are many sites and groups that have information and blogs about that. The more knowledge you have, the better.
It is also very important that you keep a journal. This helps in a number of ways and can prove to be invaluable.
It's vitally important to have some 'positiveness' coming into your life everyday. This is part of area 4 on the 'Tips to help you succeed' page. No matter what your personal beliefs are, find SOMETHING that helps to build you up on the inside. If we're going to get your kids safe, we need you whole, centered, stable. No matter how good of a team we get behind you, you're the bow of the ship. If you're sinking, the rest of us have no choice but to follow.
The sign below is to a site that many parents use, and we're not saying that you should or shouldn't. I'm including it to make it easier for you to get at least a few moments, each day, of encouragement.
